Mariana Ochs is a designer, journalist and educator. Following a 25-year career in news design and art direction, running an editorial design consultancy in New York, she turned her sights to media and digital culture in education, working in her native Rio de Janeiro as a school Technology Coordinator. Currently an education coordinator at EducaMídia, Brazil’s largest media education program, she is part of the Google Innovator education leaders program, has a Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy from the University of Rhode Island and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Communication Sciences at the University of São Paulo, where she researches algorithmic literacy in K-12. Mariana has co-authored the reference book Guia da Educação Midiática and is the author of EducaMídia’s suite of materials on AI and Media Literacy, among other publications, resources and professional development initiatives. As a Media Literacy expert, she is currently serving on the National Committee for Human Rights Education and Culture within Brazil’s Ministry of Human Rights. In 2026 she was awarded the Marieli Rowe Award for Innovation in Media Literacy Education by the International Council for Media Literacy (IC4ML).
